-
- 1 ░ RECOVERY Disk
- ══════════════════════════════
-
- Purpose:
-
- This option just takes you to the Installation menu, where
- you then choose the Recovery disk option. The inclusion in
- this Utility menu is solely for the purpose of helping you
- get to the Recovery disk quicker in case you need to update
- one, or read something without having to remember exactly
- where it was.
-
-
- 2 ░ SCAN any EXTension, path, or file group
- ═══════════════════════════════════════════
-
- Purpose:
-
- Very simply, the option presents a Dos dialogue box
- from which you scan any path which can be stated the
- same way you use the Dos 'DIR' command.
-
- For example, C:\yoursub\*.bat would scan all the
- files in the 'yoursub' subdirectory of the C: drive,
- which have a '.BAT' extension.
-
-
- 3 ░ EXTRACT a distribution disk and 5 1/4" floppy Disks
- ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
-
- Purpose:
-
- The Extractor allows you to make a copy of a variety of
- different parts or versions of Virus ALERT, by copying
- the required files from the ALERT directory for you.
-
-
- For example, one of the options is for a 'scan only'
- version of Virus ALERT, which has just the files
- needed to run scans.
-
- The Extractor can also be used to help someone make
- a complete working copy of Virus ALERT onto a 5 1/4",
- 1.2 meg floppy disk if you do not have a 3 1/2" floppy
- drive in your computer.
-
-
-
-
-
-
- 4 ░ INSTALLATION of icons for Windows and OS/2
- ══════════════════════════════════════════════════
-
- Purpose:
-
- Virus ALERT does not provide an automatic install
- procedure for Windows or OS/2. Rather, the document
- gives everything you need to know.
-
-
- The reason is that both environments have so much variability,
- that to try and second guess the environments in advance from
- our end would be, shall we say, 'counter productive'.
